Howling Husky Sled Dog Tours - Providing unique-educational-exciting adventures!
About Us

Howling Husky Sled Dog tours is a family made up of mostly Siberian Huskies although there are a few other breeds amongst us. Most of the dogs we have are rescue or rehomed dogs, we bring them in to join our family and teach them to do what these breeds love to do.. run! The dogs used in the tours are all snow dogs. There are 18 Siberian Husky's and 1 Alaskan Malamute living and working with us.

I'm the Musher Jake. This crazy but exciting lifestyle started late 2004 when I decided I wanted a husky, then along came Koda and a lot of trouble. He was a hand full, so not knowing much about the breed I joined the Husky Club of Victoria where I learnt a lot. After a while I rehomed my second husky through the club, Maximus. I then got into sled dog racing. Firstly with the Alaskan Malamute Club of Victoria with a family friend who used to race and helped me get into the sport. Then the sled dog bug set in. I love to rehome dogs. Helping a dog in need find a home or giving one a home feels great and I believe the dogs know in a way that they have been given a second chance and love you all the more for it. I have been racing and running sled dogs since 2005 and giving tours in the snow since 2008. And definitely not stopping any time soon!

HI! I’m Danni.
At the moment we have 24 dogs living with us! Things can be a little crazy at our house sometimes, but I love it and mostly I love the dogs. They are pets first and workers second. The main reason we give the tours is to keep them all year round, also to help with the rescue side of things. We also hope that when we give a tour that we have educated people a bit more on the Siberian Husky, they are not your regular dog! A good example on a husky personality would be Shadow, when she was a pup she loved getting in the laundry basket and stealing our underwear. One night I found her with one of my nicer pair and I chased her all around the house until I finally cornered her. Rather than give up the underwear, she swallowed them. I was not happy and very lucky we got her to regurgitate. That is the type of dog they are though, would much rather please themselves than their owner. I still love them all the same and they love me all the same too. Jake says I spoil them and I do, that won't ever change =) My fulltime job is at our local pub, I am the barmaid. It's great to have a conversation with a customer and they ask me what else I do. Not many people in Australia can say they run sled dogs!

Hi guys, I’m Todd. The early months of 2009 I took an interest in a rescue dog Jake and Danni had in their kennel. Casper. He & I took a shine to each other as soon as we met. I took him to a sled dog race in Bendigo & then I was hooked! I soon rescued Demon from Jake & Danni. When they went to Baw Baw in July I was all in! The best part about having Casper & Demon is that they both love my daughter Georgia. She absolutely adores them also! I have helped more and more with the rehoming we do at Howling huskys and now with the demand and workload of the tours increasing, I am now coordinating the rehomeing its a great feeling to be able to help these dogs. I am looking forward to 2011 season, hope to see you at Baw Baw for a pat, play, laugh and Sled!
